Performance at Villa Kujoyama, Kyoto (Japan).
The mythology surrounding the forest on the edge of the Villa — where the world of humans and that of animist spirits are said to intersect — inspired their research about emancipatory conceptions of desire.
This investigation led them to sketch the foundation of a contemporary phantasmagoria, at the crossroads of ancient Japan and contemporary eco-queer thought. “I’ll lick the fog off your skin” is a hybrid choreography that invites both the audience and dancers to encounter sensual ghosts.
“I’ll lick the fog off your skin” seeks to generate new images of desire, by offering new ways of blending genders and even kingdoms (human, ghostly, vegetal, animal…), while blurring the boundaries between audience and stage, between bodies and images of bodies.

Right: installation version, sometimes activated by performances at esam, Caen (solo exhibition).
.
On a darkened stage, desiring ghosts appear, freely inspired by ancient Japan and contemporary eco-sensuality. They come to meet the dancers and the audience and interact with them.
We aim to create an immersive, poetic, and sensory experience, where the energy of new, unspoken fantasies spreads everywhere contaminating all participants where “warm illumination of a horizon imbued with potentiality” begins to unfold.
« I’ll lick the fog off your skin invites the audience to lose themselves in a forest of screens, shaped by fleeting, disorienting encounters where sensual ghosts and unexpected desires may appear. »
Danser Canal Historique
The choreographic situations in “I’ll lick the fog off your skin” transform the stage into a shared space, where audience members, dancers, and images meet, grow familiar with one another, and sometimes interact.
The term cruising refers to wandering in search of lovers, driven by desires projected onto bodies that appear and disappear endlessly. It’s a form of relationality that embraces chance and the ephemeral.

On stage, fleeting connections form between the images, the audience and the dancers. Ahead of each performance, workshops bring amateur participants into the making of the piece. On the night, they surface among the assembled bodies and the projections. Their presence renders the performance more troubling still. Who is the dancer? Who is the image? Who is the audience?
